Even i can't believe on me. Its for my mom and dad, they just love this Kudal Kulambu a lot. They won't complaint if this Kudal Kulambu fills their tummy on Sunday's. I have heard from amma saying, my grand ma dad's mom will prepare Kudal Kulambu on Sunday morning's and serve along with Idly. Even i have seen in many non veg hotels, Idly and Kudal Kulambu is their most featured recipe.

Of course Idly and Kudal Kulambu is the heavenly made combination. You can't even point out a single non-vegetarian saying no this combination. Thought many new dishes are cooked in non veg, idly and Kudal Kulambu is an unbeatable Tamil Nadu's Tradition non veg recipe.

Then, chop the shallots, garlic and tomato. Soak tamarind in hot water for 20 minutes. Then, squeeze the tamarind, extract water from it and discard the pulp. In a pan, heat 2 tsp of sesame oil, then add cumin seeds and fennel seeds. Now, add methi seeds, coriander seeds, red chilli and roast in low flame, till nice aroma wafts. Switch off the flame, and add the grated coconut.

Give a quick stir and keep aside till it cools down. Then, transfer it to a mixer. Once the mustard splutters, add a small piece of Thalippu Vadagam optional and give a quick stir, as it gets burnt easily.

Then, add the shallots, garlic and saute till translucent. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute till mushy. Pour the tamarind water, once it starts to boil, add the turmeric powder and required salt. Print Email. During my Childhood, most Sundays Grandma would prepare Kudal kulambu for us for lunch and it has always been there on my favorite list. Even now, the very smell of the rich tasting curry reminds me of the fun filled weekends I had as a kid. I've already posted her curry version here on blog and it is kinda routine or even tradition for us to follow the same recipe even after her without altering much of it.

The reason why there was not much of experimenting was because washing, chopping and cooking lamb intestine was a messy and tedious task then.

I enquired my servant whether she knows to clean it and she said that her grand mom who is 75 year old only know that. I asked her to bring her Grand mom one Sunday and went to the mutton shop. The butcher told me that if I wait for 2 hours I may get a chance to get one.
